About us
Made in Belgium, festival country par excellence, by fans who know festival grounds inside and out.
It all started when we lost our friends (again).
Hans, the founder of Festival Radar, first built it as a visitor app for his own use. Mostly out of frustration, because he always lost his friends at festivals. The later in the evening, the harder it became for everyone to... communicate their location. He described the app as “free, low-tech and drunk-proof”.
Other festivalgoers picked it up en masse, and over the years it was used by 70,000 people at 150 festivals in 12 countries. From Graspop 🇧🇪 to Glastonbury 🇬🇧, Tomorrowland 🇧🇪 to Coachella 🇺🇸 and Hellfest 🇫🇷 to Meredith Music Festival 🇦🇺.
Then festival crews started using it too
Emergency responders, dispatchers in command centers, even technical F&B personnel started using Festival Radar for something it was never built for: finding each other and finding the problem.
Hans and co-founder Max got together and built Festival Radar Pro, with a much better map engine and everything a crew and a control post need.
How it works →The visitor app is still free and still drunk-proof.
It's not our main focus anymore but we still visit a lot of festivals, so we maintain the visitor app seasonally, as a side project for personal use.
It lives on at festivalradar.io, where it's anonymous, needs no login and works offline. Visitors use it to find their spot, share it with friends and see who's on stage at all times. It runs on the same map engine as Festival Radar Pro, at public scale.
